Helping parents

Updated: May 19

Absolutely one of the most rewarding opportunities...

Each day I wake up and think about everything that needs to be done for the day. It usually begins with my first appointments, updating websites, payroll, meeting with fiscal team, training team, clinical team and at some point I wonder if there will be enough time in the day to complete everything on my agenda. I think about the work with organizations and what supports are needed to get them through the day, I feel blessed that I am able to help so many people in so many different areas.

Then I think about my families, such a blessing to work with such strong mentors and advocates. A job that never ends. Fighting school systems to provide the support that's needed for their children, assisting their children in tasks that have been taught but not mastered for years, but still patiently teaching, as though for the first time.

They are the real heroes, the unacknowledged heroes whose name may never appear on a plaque, or they may never walk across a stage to receive honors, but a hero nonetheless to those children that love them unconditionally.

Kudos to all parents and especially those raising children with disabilities. Parenting is no easy task but a truly honorable one.
